Binary Models

During class we learned about binary models and there different branches that make up binary models. One part that I enjoyed learning the most about was Elitist vs. Populist. What this means is  when news companies especially news shows choose to cover a story that will attract the viewers in order to make money (populist) rather then to release information that may not be as popular for the viewers. Although many news companies do do this, newspaper companies tend to do it much less then news shows. However, one news show that is still elitist is "60 minutes". I really never realized that most news shows did this until we covered this material in class. Now looking back and watching new shows such as Fox or GMA I realized that especially news morning shows are always going for what the viewers want rather then real current events going on in our society. I really found this topic very interesting in class to learn about and I now understand the brain of news companies and the way that they think in order to make more money.
